So here are some things I am excited about

Ben's decision to get out of Rocklin and explore the world--sta

rting in Belgium and now in Porto, Portugal(Drinking sunshine, surfing and meeting people from all parts of the world).

Skype is very exciting too!

And he is cooking! I'm going to Portugal...lettn' my son cook for me!

Lots of time went by...And I have not been idle....

I don't know where to start. I have not been posting for a long time! Alittle over one year!

I'll sum up:

1. I never finished my Navajo rug...I know I want to...and there it sits.

2. I took 2 spanish classes @ Sierra College (Spring and Fall)which probably is why I can think about anything else. My daughter is studying Spanish--I need to begin again...I don't want to lose what I have gained.

3. I visited amazing places this summer in OR, WA, ID, and MT! Oh what a georgeous world we live in!!!

4. I took a fiber Arts class in the fall @ SC. I met several very artistic woman. We have a regular time we meet to inspire and practice art together. Like ancient times when

woman did their work in a village/tribe/together we laugh, cry and make cool art! I really enjoy this part of my life. I have been missing connections with other woman.

5. I know there is more...I will have to list when I can.

Navajo Loom Weaving

I began my desire to weave on a navajo loom in September of 2008. My husband apon looking @ Navajo Rugs in New Mexico suggested that I make my own...I thought "No, I am not going to weave!...I already attempt to do to much."

It all takes time. This is the third loom I built before I felt it was functional for What I'd like to be able to do--like move into different rooms. When I warped my first warp--it took me about 8 hours--4 x's the time the book suggested. For the first 2-3 hours I felt like I was doing Pilates. I have had help from several sources:

Constant for me is to enjoy the process of things.  I tend to want to enjoy the end result...while dreading all the work!  At this point in the project I find myself relaxing to music with Diego(the little chihuahua guy in the photo with the loom) in my lap...I am at the stage of meditative weaving.  The set up was some concentration.  

I am also reading a book that I find interesting.  It was written by a white woman, Gladys A Reichard, who's desire to weave Navajo style takes her to living with the Navajo People.

Very interesting!  The book's title is 'Spider Woman'.

Happy New Year!

Will and I went to Merced (Jay and Lori's-LouAnn Mora's sister/bro-in-law from Wisconsin)California for the coming in of the New Year. Saw Marisa Mora as well as Ed and LouAnn Mora @ Jay and Lori's. Also, saw Lori's niece (we met her and her husband @ Marisa's wedding 2 years ago). Not sure why I did not take photos. We had a short, wonderful visit. Ate lots of yummy foods and of course drank fine wines! And Will got to play Dihimen(however you spell it!).
On Friday we drove out of the fog to sunny Pismo. Well, by the time we got there it was dark. But, we saw stars on our night hike thru the dunes. Walking on the beach there is taking chances with your life! Cars are allowed on the beach. And although the speed limit is 15--Many drive like it is a freeway! Crazy...The Snowy Plover were very busy (probably moving their eggs away from the traffic--only to find more traffic! And in Northern Ca they don't want you to walk your dogs on the beach???) Anyways, we had a terrific sunny Saturday! We walked to the pier and in town. Pema and Will walked together. Pema did not loose it once! We even sat in a outdoor restaurant and had lunch! We all enjoyed fish and chips. Not as good as North Coast Brewery in Ft Bragg. But, nice atmosphere. We walked back in misty conditions. Had a nice weekend. Traffic was not to bad on the way back to Nevada City.
